What This Tutorial Covers
This page is designed for new RISR users who are ready to move from setup into action. Use the resources below to add your first client, guide them through data entry, and confidently review the report once it is ready.
Step 1: Add Your First Client and Send the Link
Start with the video above for a walkthrough of generating a client link and understanding the business owner experience in RISR.
- Generating a Link for a Business Owner — use this walkthrough to create the invite link and understand what the client will see: /help/generating-a-link-for-a-business-owner
- RISR New User Orientation Guide — use this as your broader onboarding hub if you want the full setup path as well: /help/getting-started-with-risr
Step 2: Help the Client Upload or Enter Their Data
Once the link is sent, these tutorials help you explain the different ways a client can complete data entry in RISR.
- How Business Owners Enter Data in RISR — share this video if you want the client to see the full process before they begin: /help/the-business-owners-data-entry-journey-what-to-expect-and-necessary-data
- Data Entry Best Practices — use this to understand the three data entry paths and how to get cleaner financial inputs: /help/data-entry-best-practices
- Document Uploader FAQs — use this when a client plans to upload tax returns or asks what file types and pages are needed: /help/document-uploader-faqs
- Choosing Industry Codes — use this when you need help selecting the right industry during onboarding: /help/choosing-industry-codes
In most cases, the fastest path is either QuickBooks Online or a clean PDF upload. Manual entry is still a strong option when records are limited or a client prefers to enter the numbers directly.
Step 3: Review the Data Before Finalizing the Report
After the client has submitted information, review the financial data for completeness and accuracy before relying on the report. RISR gives both you and the client opportunities to verify what was entered or extracted.
- Use Data Entry Best Practices to confirm what information should be present, especially three years of P&L data and the most recent balance sheet: /help/data-entry-best-practices
- Use Document Uploader FAQs if you need to troubleshoot extraction results or confirm what was uploaded: /help/document-uploader-faqs
Step 4: Review the Report and Prepare for the Client Conversation
Once the report is ready, use these tutorials to understand what you are seeing and how to talk through it with the client.
- Valuation Module & Report Overview — use this to understand the valuation report structure and key takeaways: /help/valuation-module-and-report-overview
- Wealth Planning and Goal Value — use this to connect the business to broader retirement and planning conversations: /help/wealth-planning-and-goal-value
- Succession and Exit Planning — use this to frame next-step conversations around readiness, transition, and long-term goals: /help/succession-and-exit-planning
- Presenting Insights Reports to Business Owners — use this when you are ready to walk the client through the report in a clear, practical way: /help/guide-to-engaging-business-owners
If you are doing this for the first time, the best flow is simple: send the client link, help them choose the easiest data-entry path, review the data for accuracy, and then use the report overview and presentation guide to prepare for the conversation.
